Frequently Asked Questions

This section is designed to give you quick answers and helpful information about Rollerzone. These questions come from our customers and our team — all to improve your experience and support our commitment to great customer service.

1. In and Around the Rink

Q1- Can I bring my own skates?

Yes! You’re welcome to bring your own skates, as long as they’re in good condition and don’t have protruding axles or bolts.

Q2 - Do you have both roller skates and roller blades available for hire?

Yes, we do.

Q3 - Do you have different prices for different ages?

No. We offer flat rates:

  • All skaters pay $15 entry + $3 skate hire (regardless of age).
  • Exceptions:
      1. Companion Card Holders – Discounted
      2. Children 3 or under – Free (with a paying family member)
      3. Pension Card Holders – Discounted (Coffee Skate session only)
  • Spectators – Free
Q4 - Can I get a refund if I or my child choose not to skate after paying?

Generally, no. We have a “No Refund” policy. Patrons are responsible for deciding if skating is suitable before paying. You’re welcome to observe the rink through our viewing windows or walk around before deciding.

Q5 - Can I bring outside food or drinks?

No, except for water. We have agreements with our food vendors. Self-catered parties are an exception. Check out our kiosk for fresh barista coffee and snacks!

Q6 - Do you provide something for little kids to hold while skating?

Yes! There’s a low ledge around the entire rink that kids can hold onto. Parents can also help kids on the floor.

Q7 - Can you tighten the wheels on children's skates?

No. Tightening the wheels can damage the bearings and pose a safety risk to the next user.

Q7 - Is your venue air conditioned?

Yes. We use evaporative air conditioning (water-cooled). On very hot days (above 36°C), we recommend coming between 3–5pm or during an evening session.

Q8 - Can I wear “heelys” on the rink?

No. These are novelty shoes and not considered proper skates.

Q9 - Do you play games during sessions?

Yes! All public sessions with a DJ include games and prizes.

Q10 - Can I request songs?

Absolutely! Our DJs love taking song requests and we have a Jukebox tablet at the kiosk for you to choose your own music.  You can also use your mobile phone to scan in the QR code that takes you straight to the music system where you can also choose your own music.

Q11 - What’s the youngest age a child can start skating?

It really depends on the child. Some start as young as 2 years old.

Q11 - What’s the youngest age a child can start skating?

It really depends on the child. Some start as young as 2 years old.

Q12 - What is the smallest skate size available for hire?

Size JR 7.

Q13 - Why don’t you allow toboggans on the rink?

They’re an insurance risk and not safety-rated for public use. Plus, they limit skating time for others.

Q14 - Why can’t I always get through on the phone?

We have only one phone line. If we’re helping someone else, you may reach voicemail. We do our best — try again later or email us if needed!

Q15 - Can I carry my child while skating?

No. It’s unsafe and could injure your child if you fall.

Q16 - Can I use my phone or take photos while skating?

It’s not recommended. There’s a risk of dropping or damaging your device — especially if you’re new to skating.

Q17 - What should I do if I have a problem at Rollerzone?

Speak with our friendly staff or management. You can also email the Managing Director at info@rollerzone.com.au. We’re happy to help.

Q18 - Can I post photos on your Facebook page?

Yes, but make sure everyone in the photo consents. We’ll review images and remove any that are inappropriate.

Q19 - Can I film or photograph my own kids?

Yes, as long as the images only include your children. Photos or videos of others require permission.

Q20 - What should I do if someone is filming my child?

Let a staff member or manager know immediately. Strict child protection laws apply, and we take them seriously.

Q21 - Do you have disabled and pram access?

Yes. We have an access door on the east side of the building, including accessible toilet facilities.  When you arrive at the door simply press the doorbell and a Staff Member will let you enter.

2. Groups and Fundraising

Q1- What fundraising options do you offer?

Our most popular is the 50/50 fundraising program — your group receives 50% of the entry fees from a booked function.

Q2 - Do large groups receive a discount?

Yes. Discounts depend on group size and needs. Just reach out to discuss options!

3. Parties

Q1 - Do I need to pay a deposit for a party?

Yes. Deposits must be paid within 1 day of booking.

Q2 - Is the food only for paid party guests?

Yes. Please book and plan for all guests who’ll be eating.

Q3 - How many kids fit in a party room?

10 children comfortably. For 12+ guests, we’ll provide an adjoining second room.

Q4 - What if we run out of cordial or water?

Head to the kiosk or ask your host, and we’ll get you more drinks.

Q5 - When should we do the birthday cake?

Right after food — that way the kids can get back to skating.

Q6 - Can I increase party numbers on the day?

You can, but it may cause:

  1. Food shortages
  2. Delays in food service
  3. Space issues (rooms may be full)

It’s best to confirm your final numbers early.

Q7 - Can I get a deposit refund if I cancel?

Generally no, unless:

  • Rollerzone cancels the party (unlikely)
  • There’s an extreme situation (management discretion)

Deposits can be credited toward a future party.

Q8 - If I don’t book a host, will my party be looked after?

Yes. A General Party Attendant will set up, bring out food, clear up, and assist when needed. But they won’t entertain or stay with the group.
